Congrats to Misia Buetens and Becky Schmauch for being the winners of our raffle at the 11th Annual Spring Studio Sale!

Prizes:
The Nest Series is about the balance between protecting and trapping. Each nest has an item that is exposed to the viewer through its outer shell but also shielded by its webbing. In some, the inner items are attempting to escape but are then left vulnerable to the elements. These pieces are hand-built, hand-carved and created with a process that fuses the inner pieces to the outer.

‘A Relationship with Earth’ A hardcover catalog of the artwork created by sculptor Jenni Ward from 2009 – 2011. This includes images of work from the Nest, Branch, Sprout and Hive Series.

Visit the studio at our next event for another chance to win raffle prizes!

New Video: Tide Pool Series

The Tide Pool Series is inspired by my time spent observing the tiny watery worlds on the rocky shoreline that exist temporarily as the rise and fall of the ocean reveals them and hides them again. The creatures and amount of life that thrive in these crevices is fascinating and forever a source of inspiration for me.

This installation explores the flow of water as it rises and falls between the rocks. The pieces mimic the blue mussels often found in these tidal zones. As the pieces were placed in the sand during the installation, the waves occasionally rolled in and kissed the edges of the pieces, gently moving them and washing them with sand without disrupting the forms.

Spring Studio Sale Thank Yous!

A GIGANTIC Thank You to everyone who came out to support the arts at the

11th Annual Spring Studio Sale this past Saturday!

Spring Studio Sale Thank Yous! | the dirt | Jenni Ward ceramic sculpture

I loved catching up with past students, seeing current students selling their work and meeting new students who will be taking classes this summer. The studio table is now officially tagged by many Earth Art Studio students but I’d love to add more, so come by and sign the table!

Spring Studio Sale Thank Yous! | the dirt | Jenni Ward ceramic sculpture

The studio sale was a great success and we are able to donate nearly $100 from our combined art sales to the Homeless Garden Project of Santa Cruz. Students shared work that they had made over the past months alongside my own works- it was a fabulous exhibit! Our student project looked good enough to eat and the ceramic donuts were the hit of the show!

I also debuted work from my new Tide Pool Series which is now available in the online shop. A video and portfolio of the ‘In the Field’ images are also up on the website. Hope you enjoy the new work!
