I started this piece weeks ago and it was paining me to finish it because of its detailed nature, but yesterday I sat down to finally try to finish it out. I realized that I had built it all wrong and that was part of the problem in working on it, so I took the entire thing apart, saving all the pieces except the central form that all the wires attach to. It felt really good to take it apart and start over. Sometimes, you learn as you go and it’s never to late to restart with more knowledge about the process. For all of you that have come to my studio and loved this work in progress, don’t worry, this piece will eventually come to fruition.

New Bone Series Coming Together!
Here’s a little update on my new compositions of Bone Series that are now framed out versions of the wall installations I’ve done in the past. For those of you that have expressed your love for these Bone Series installations, I hope that these new framed pieces will now be able to find a measurable spot on your walls. I had frames fabricated in 2′ x 4′ rectangles and 2.5′ x 2.5′ squares and I’m loving the way they are both working compositionally. Be sure to come by Open Studios this October to see them in person!
About the Bone Series:
This series is inspired by the the connections we have with each other, the synapses happening within our own bodies and how we are stitched together from past to present, from inside and out. The Bone Series plays with the contrast of organic and geometric elements that exist within our own bone structures. The shadows in this installation application make the work especially engaging.

A little taste of what it’s like to walk the trail of Umbels..
About the Umbel Series Installation:
The saffron colored trail of abstract ceramic flowers is inspired by the folklore of bright yellow mustard flowers leading the way from mission to mission along the Camino Real. The installation is named the Umbel Series due to the umbrella shaped flower structures that inspired the forms.
