Ecole Rajepre

recycled garden sculpture…

On a recent trip to Haiti, Jenni Ward, her family and artists Racine Polycarpe and Claudel Casseus from Atis Rezistans built a recycled bike rim sculpture for the garden at Rajepre School. Director Luc Winter has been working on implementing a garden at his new school property in Cite Soleil, one of the poorest and most dangerous areas in the Western Hemisphere. Our bike rim sculpture is not only a visually interesting structure for the garden, but it is also a trellis for beans and other vines to grow on. The trellis is designed in an igloo formation which creates a shade structure for the students to relax in. Art heart sale bought all the materials for this project and paid local Haitian artists and laborers a decent salary to help organize and implement the project. We’ve been inspired by a post on Recycle Lovers.com.
