Jenni Ward - owner & art instructor
Jenni Ward is a self-employed local artist, art instructor and owner of Earth Art Studio in Aptos. In 2005, she opened Earth Art Studio; a sculpture studio offering clay and mixed media sculpture classes and workshops for children, teens and adults. Throughout her teaching career she has worked extensively with many youth and senior art programs. In addition to teaching she has been creating, showing and selling her own sculptures since graduating from University of Hartford-Hartford Art School with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1998. She has exhibited her sculptures locally, nationally and participates in the Santa Cruz County Open Studios.
Melissa Schilling - Clay with your Food Instructor
If her life was a board game, it would be called Culinary Pursuit. Melissa Schilling developed an early passion for food and wine from her Italian grandfather – eating after school snacks of cod and crackers while other children enjoyed cookies and milk. The cod prepared her well for a cooking school stint in the Basque Country of Spain. Earning her Master of Science degree in Agriculture, from Cal Poly, cemented her love of terroir, microclimates, heirloom vegetables and of course CHEESE!
Melissa is working on a Culinary Roadtrip Cookbook (sipsnapsavor.net). She also teaches consumable art classes through her consulting business, Praise Cheeses (praisecheeses.net)
Nate Ward - Facilities Manager
Native Santacruzen, proficient potter and builder extraordinaire; Nate is Jenni's better half and the all around d-i-y guy for earth art studio. Nate has built and maintained nearly everything in the studio and sculpture garden spaces and always has plans for more! He is the weekend warrior of home projects, helping with art shows and luckily works for a currency of sweet treats! In the little free time he has left, he loves hanging with the dogs and flying his bike off jumps in Nisene Marks.
